The face can develop a variety of negative appearances as one ages. Looking tired, sad, or stressed, are common developments over time. These looks often do not accurately reflect how we actually feel. Synchronizing how we feel inside, with how we appear to others is a common valid concern.
Specifically, the eyebrows greatly influence our overall look. Tight, inward turning of the inside of the brow portrays stress and anger. Downward turning of the tail of the brow evokes sadness. A heaviness of the brow, crowding the eye makes one appear tired, or unalert.
A Browlift, also known as a Forehead Lift is a surgical procedure designed to lift the brow to a natural looking position. This procedure will also remove weight from the upper eyelids, which can contribute to the tired, haggard appearance. A Browlift will dramatically rejuvenate the face; providing a significantly refreshed and rested appearance. Browlift patients look happier, more approachable, and years younger.
The Browlift Procedure:
A Browlift is an outpatient procedure, performed under general anesthesia. It takes from one to two hours to complete.
Doctor Basile uses several different techniques for the browlift. He and his patient chooses the technique together, according to the changes they wish to reverse. A ‘coronal’ incision technique, or ‘full browlift’ is a powerful, comprehensive approach sometimes necessary to make all the intended changes. A minimal incision approach using fiberoptic (endoscopic) instruments is also a possibility, and is associated with a faster recovery. Many times all that is needed is a gentle tug to the lateral half of the brow. A ‘temporal’ brow lift can be done efficiently through two small incisions hidden behind the hairline. While the surgical techniques may vary, all Browlift procedures attain a freshening and wakening of the brow and the eye area. Often the Browlift is performed concurrently with the eyelid lift, or facelift.
The Browlift Recovery:
Patients should expect their Browlift recovery to take about seven to ten days. Swelling and bruising may occur; there may be some itching and discomfort. Dr. Basile will prescribe the appropriate medications, keeping his patients resting comfortably at home. Normally, patients feel well enough to return to work in about a week. All strenuous activities should be postponed until at least four weeks after the procedure; this includes vigorous exercise and heavy lifting.
Dr. Basile has been performing the Browlift procedure for over 20 years; he is a Board Certified plastic surgeon and provides his patients with the safest surgical results available.
